Program Title: Integrated Project Delivery IPD Education Program + an Owner’s How to Meeting Co Sponsors: DBIA Western Pacific Region Lean Construction Institute, Los Angeles Chapter Hosts: LACCD - Larry Eisenberg / Tom Hall
Program Abstract: Integrated Project Delivery is the hot topic in the industry. Many owners are intrigued with the process and the promise of the Lean Project Delivery process that is fundamental to the IPD process. Many people are out in the public defining IPD as a contracting method, others are touting some of the software tools, and even others are promoting the use of scheduling tools. DBIA WPC along with the Lean Construction Institute, LA Basin chapter, are cosponsoring this IPD seminar to define IPD fundamentals, discuss case experiences, explain why select owners chose IPD and share lessons learned.

Lean Construction Institute (LCI)
The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
The Los Angeles Area Community of Practice is being developed to provide local lean support to owners, architects and designers, engineers, contractors, specialty contractors and suppliers who are doing business in the LA Area. We invite project delivery team members to meet together as a Community of Practice to learn, share and develop a lean community in the LA Area.
